R+S Rotators - Oil Chamber Kaleidoscopes
This is a classic kaleidoscope design originally perfected and popularized by expert kaleidoscope makers Randy and Shelly Knapp. When they retired they graciously passed along to me some of their equipment, materials and even designs, including this one! It has been one of the most technical challenges Leif / CKC have taken on in terms of a production run of kaleidoscopes and he is very pleased with how this batch has come out!
These kaleidoscopes are 8" long, 2" diameter and feature a rotating oil chamber filled with lampworked translucent glass and textured dichroic glass which randomly tumble to create the never ending rainbow of images seen within. Each kaleidoscope comes with a simple display stand. There are 4 variations of this design offered, three options create a central mandala type image using 2 mirrors, the fourth option creates an outwardly repeating pattern style image:
6 point mandala - Zebrawood
8 point mandala - Rosewood
10 point mandala - Cherry
30/60/90 pattern - Mahogany
